Design for Dogs 2020

The K9 Cabana is an elegantly functional canine retreat from exploring either the yard or the living room. Composed of vertical slats with horizontal spacers, the shell is made entirely of walnut , including the walnut dowels connecting all the components together.

The lattice shell offers more functional considerations aside from the visually striking appearance. The spacers were distributed so that they cluster closer towards the top to maximize shading potential. The density of spacers feather away towards the bottom to allow for cool breezes to pass through and, most importantly, to let your puppy to keep a watchful eye over their domain.

The shell is made of 125 uniquely shaped pieces of solid walnut. Digital design files are translated to cut using a CNC machine to the exact size and shape as needed. Once cut out, the shell is assembled by hand.
